McDonald’s Canada introduces new premium burger with Canadian Angus

McDonald’s announced today the availability of a new premium hamburger—the Mighty Angus™—the first new premium burger the Company has added to its permanent menu since 2012. The 100% pure Angus beef from Canadian farms offers an authentic taste experience for burger lovers at an affordable price.
The recipe was created with help from Canadian consumer taste-testers to get it just right. The Mighty Angus is made with carefully selected, juicy, tender cuts of 100% pure Angus beef proudly sourced from Canadian farms enhanced with a smoky Angus sauce, and topped with hickory smoked bacon pieces, crisp leaf lettuce, tomato, processed cheddar cheese and grilled onions, all served on a sesame and poppy seed bun.
“The very first item on the menu in 1967 was a hamburger and at its heart, McDonald’s has always been a burger company,” said Anne Parks, Director of Menu Management at McDonald’s Canada. “In fact, today McDonald’s is the destination of choice for Canadian burger lovers, serving more guests than all other national burger chains combined*.”
The beef quality story doesn’t end with the premium Angus patty. McDonald’s has renewed its grilling procedures to ensure that each and every burger is cooked to perfection. All staff—from head office to the restaurant kitchens—have received refreshed beef quality training to ensure that everyone knows how to prepare a burger—be it Angus or a Big Mac®—that’s perfectly seasoned and juicy.
McDonald’s isn’t just committed to a delicious burger today, the Company is also funding a beef sustainability pilot project in Canada to ensure there will be delicious burgers available for future generations by helping establish an independent verification process for what it means to produce sustainable beef. Through the work of the Canadian pilot, McDonald’s is on track to purchase a portion of its beef from sustainable sources in 2016 as part of its broader aspirational goal to source all of its food and packaging sustainably.
