McDonald’s® Canada joins global initiative to bring moments of joy to people around the world in 24 hours

TORONTO, ON (March 25, 2015) – Yesterday, McDonald’s Canada joined other markets around the world in a unique initiative called imlovinit24, to share 24 moments of joy with thousands of people in 24 countries, in 24 hours.

In Toronto, a specially designed bench with a static backdrop was placed in a high-traffic area inside the Atrium on Bay. When one person sat on the bench, nothing happened but when a second person joined them on the bench the backdrop became an illuminated ‘Welcome to McDonald’s’ sign; food was served through a hidden hatch in the bench and McDonald’s crew members personally welcomed the two strangers as they made a connection and enjoyed our food. “This fun activation provided us another opportunity to show how McDonald’s makes real, meaningful and authentic connections with consumers,” said Antoinette Benoit, Senior Vice President, Marketing for McDonald’s Canada. “We aimed to surprise and delight everyday people in an unexpected yet engaging way that allowed them to feel part of something joyful.”
Building on its recently launched ‘Welcome to McDonald’s’ brand promise campaign, participating in the imlovinit24 initiative provided McDonald’s Canada with another forum to position the brand as a place where differences come together and connections happen.
Kicking off in Sydney, Australia, the activation continued across the globe in cities, including Tokyo, Milan and London among others. All 24 global moments were captured throughout the day and are available at
