McDonald’s Canada Engages Deloitte to Conduct Independent Audit
Independent Third Party to Audit all Restaurants Using Temporary Foreign Worker Program
Toronto, ON (May 28, 2014) –McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Limited today announced it has retained Deloitte, a global leading professional services firm, as an independent third-party to conduct a compliance audit of its corporate and franchised restaurants’ use of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (the “Program”).
“Engaging a trusted third-party firm like Deloitte to conduct this review reaffirms our commitment to doing the right thing and ensuring every restaurant using the Program is consistently meeting Program requirements. If any discrepancies are uncovered through the audit process, we will act swiftly and effectively to continue to make things right,” said Len Jillard, Chief People Officer, McDonald’s Canada.
McDonald’s Canada announced its commitment to conduct a third party review of the Program when it ordered a voluntary freeze of the Program.
Deloitte will work with McDonald’s and its franchisees to conduct a compliance audit, mirroring as closely as possible a Service Canada audit, in every restaurant employing temporary foreign workers. This will result in the auditing of more than 200 McDonald’s restaurants in Canada. Deloitte, leveraging their team of advanced analytics and regulatory compliance specialists, will be performing the compliance audits with the expectation of completing them as quickly as possible.
